Free distance-communication technology and training for people with significant combined hearing and vision loss who meet program guidelines.

What iCanConnect does

iCanConnect—also known as the National Deaf-Blind Equipment Distribution Program—provides eligible participants with communication equipment, software, assessment, installation, training, and support at no cost.

Examples can include smartphones, tablets, computers, screen readers, braille displays, and other technology selected around the participant's communication goals.

AI for the Blind's role

We work with the Texas iCanConnect ecosystem to support training and manage a network of trainers serving major communities across the state.

How the process generally works

Review eligibility

Apply through the Texas program

The Texas program reviews documentation and eligibility.

Receive equipment

Approved technology is ordered and set up for the participant.

Train with a real person

Training is tailored to the equipment, assistive technology, and day-to-day communication goals.

Official eligibility, application, and program decisions belong to iCanConnect and its designated Texas administrators. AI for the Blind does not make eligibility determinations.
